Florida Airports Council—Many Airports, One Voice

For airports to succeed, they need to make the most from limited resources and thrive in spite of their limitations.

As the saying goes, there is strength in numbers. That’s why Florida’s 129 public airports (19 of which have commercial air service) have an advantage over those in many other states, because they can rely on one another via the Florida Airports Council (FAC).

FAC is composed of members who represent all of Florida’s 19 commercial service airports, 79 of the state’s publicly owned general aviation airports, one Spaceport, and more than 250 corporate and student members. Through the collective strength of these members, FAC’s vision is to be the voice of Florida Airports before the Florida Legislature, U.S. Congress, state and government officials, and the general public—influencing government regulations, policies, and funding.

The united voice of FAC’s members has forged strong alliances with leaders in the Florida Legislature and the Florida Department of Transportation. For its 2015 budget, the aviation program received $365 million in matching state funds for airport improvements, including $30 million for spaceport development.

The essence of FAC is the contribution and efforts of its various committees. FAC members are encouraged to join and become active in one or more standing committees, including Corporate, Educational, Environmental, Facilities, Federal Affairs, General Aviation, Information Technology, Legal, Noise Abatement and Community Affairs, Operations, Security, and State Affairs.

Through the collaboration and efforts of the individuals volunteering within these committees and within FAC, the association has become one of the nation’s premier airport organizations, truly showing the power of strength in numbers: many airports, one voice.
