American Society of Safety Professionals Completes 2018 Elections

Pittsburgh, PA—The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) has completed its 2018 elections with GAI Consultants, Inc. (GAI) Health & Safety Director Pam Walaski, CSP, CHMM elected Director-At-Large. Ms. Walaski will receive her official appointment at the Society’s Professional Development Conference & Exhibition in June. She will serve a three-year term as Director-At-Large.

About the Position:

  • ASSP’s newly elected leaders will begin their terms on July 1.
  • The top elected positions at ASSP, and part of its Board of Directors, are president, president-elect, senior vice president, vice president of finance, and directors-at-large.
  • To run on the ASSP ballot, candidates must possess a number of qualifications in addition to being a professional member.
  • The Safety 2018 Professional Development Conference & Exposition will take place June 3 through June 6 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, TX.

About Pam Walaski:

  • Pam has served as Health & Safety Director at GAI for three years, working to solidify the firm’s workplace safety program, developing and implementing a new program for driver risk management, expanding staff project site visits, and streamlining Health and Safety Plan development, among others.
  • In addition to her work at GAI, Pam has a 25 year history of health, safety, and environmental support for clients in the manufacturing, heavy industrial, municipal, insurance, government, and construction sectors.
  • Pam is skilled in risk management, occupational safety and health management systems, and training for curriculum development, implementation, and auditing.
  • She is active with the American Society of Safety Professionals and is one of four instructors for the organization’s highly successful Risk Assessment Certificate Program.
  • In June 2015, Pam received ASSP’s Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service Award.
  • During this year’s conference, Pam will receive the Safety Professional of the Year Award for Region VIII and the Professional Paper award for her article “Rightsizing Risk Management For Small & Medium Enterprises,” published in Professional Safety in June 2017.
