Bob Hurley

Business Development Director

Bob Hurley taps extensive regional knowledge and expertise to support GAI’s commitment to client service and spearhead the continued expansion of GAI’s footprint in Pennsylvania.

Bob has decades of experience in environmental, community, and land use planning in the government sector. As former Allegheny County Economic Development Director, Bob oversaw major growth initiatives that significantly improved the region’s economy, including the replacement of UPMC hospital, establishment of a main streets program for Allegheny County communities, and assisting in development of the region’s airport corridor. His prior experience also includes working for the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh; the City of Pittsburgh Mayor’s Office as Manager of Economic Development; and for the Pittsburgh Technology Council.

Bob currently serves as a board member of the Allegheny County Airport Authority and Urban Innovation21, a public-private partnership that boosts regional economic development through innovation-driven entrepreneurship within the City of Pittsburgh.

Additionally, Bob is a member of the Port of Pittsburgh Commission and Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Pittsburgh Regional Advisory Committee. He is a former member of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission’s Regional Policy Advisory Committee and the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance Steering Committee, and served as a Carnegie Mellon University Center for Economic Development Fellow.

Bob holds both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in Geography and Regional Planning from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
