Each year, GAI designates a corporate charity of choice through our ‘iGaive’ charitable-giving program. For our 2025-2026 giving campaign, we continue our support for Building Homes for Heroes, a nonprofit national organization that builds or modifies existing homes and gifts them, mortgage free, to injured veterans and their families, while also providing support services to enable them to build better lives.
In addition to encouraging GAI staff to reach a target donation level of $25,000 in our 2025-2026 campaign, GAI makes good on a long-lived commitment to support our communities by matching employee donations to Building Homes for Heroes dollar-for-dollar up to a total additional $25,000—adding up to potential $50,000 donation to the organization and its beneficiaries. In our 2024-2025 giving campaign, GAI met its giving goal with a total $60,000 cash donation.
Committed to Disabled Vets and Their Families
Established after the 9/11 attack in New York City, Building Homes for Heroes’ mission is ‘determined and devoted to bringing renewed hope to our nation’s injured veterans, first responders and their families.’
Building Homes for Heroes’ mission reached a major milestone late last year with the gifting of its 400th home, which went to a veteran U.S. Army specialist and his family in Argyle, TX. In the past several months, the organization has built and gifted a house customized to the needs of an disabled veteran U.S. Air Force staff sergeant and his family in Crestview, FL; presented a disabled veteran U.S. Army sergeant and his family with a mortgage-free home in Albuquerque, NM; and has paid off the home mortgage balance for the family of a highly decorated U.S. Army Special Forces sergeant who lost his life in a vehicular accident late last year.
In addition to mortgage-free homes, the organization helps support the ongoing financial stability of its beneficiaries by connecting them with pro-bono financial planning services provided by partner organization the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA).
Maximum Impact for Donation Dollars
When selecting our corporate charity of choice, GAI seeks organizations that make a truly profound impact on the lives of their beneficiaries. Building Homes for Heroes has earned a four-star, 100% rating from Charity Navigator—the organization strives to keep fundraising and administrative costs at a minimum while its CEO and Board members perform their duties without compensation. This helps maximize the percentage of the donations received that is directed to the organization’s home-gifting program.
