Pittsburgh, PA—GAI Consultants, Inc. (GAI) announced today the recipients of its 2018 President’s Safety Awards, an annual program aimed at recognizing and rewarding employees whose outstanding safety performances are proactive, preventative, and go above and beyond the employee’s typical role. The recipients of the 2018 award all demonstrated a substantial commitment to health and safety at GAI.

Highlights/Key Facts

• The 2018 First Place award was given to GAI’s Northeast Bridge Inspection Team—William Wieserman, Bridge Technical Leader; Trevor Schmidt, Project Engineer; Bryan Ott, Senior EIT; Brett Reese, Project EIT; and David Head, Sr. CAD Operator—who conducted inspections of more than 100 bridges in 2018 with zero recordable incidents.
• Nick Paouncic, Project Environmental Specialist, received Second Place for his quick and appropriate response during an emergency in which he came to the assistance of a fellow GAI employee—Nick’s overall approach to safety in the field earned him six award nominations from fellow employees.
• Third Place was awarded to J.T. Sutton, II, Senior Construction Support Specialist, for his proactive approach to safety while working on active construction sites, walking vegetated right-of-ways, and traversing steep terrain, all without a single safety issue.
• In addition to plaques, GAI President Anthony Morrocco, PE, PLS, MBA presented winners of the 2018 President’s Safety Award with monetary awards to recognize their achievements.
• Award nominations are open to all full-time employees, and can be submitted by any GAI employee on behalf of themselves or another employee, group, or department.
• All award submissions go through a four-level review and judging process by the firm’s Safety Committees.
