Pittsburgh, PA—GAI Consultants, Inc. (GAI) today announced that Kelly Hockersmith, MA, RPA has joined the firm as a Cultural Resources Director. Ms. Hockersmith will tap her wealth of experience managing cultural resources projects for federal, state, municipal, and private sector clients to serve GAI’s new and existing clients.
Highlights/Key Facts
- A registered Professional Archaeologist, Kelly specializes in management and quality control for energy and transportation projects.
- Kelly has extensive experience with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) environmental regulations for natural gas facilities, and United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) permitting.
- She currently serves as a lecturer for the University of Maryland Department of Anthropology Cultural and Heritage Resource Management graduate program.
- She is a member of the Society for American Archaeology, Southeastern Archaeological Conference, Tennessee Council for Professional Archaeology, National Association of Environmental Professionals, and Women’s Energy Network.
- Kelly holds a master’s degree in applied anthropology from the University of South Florida as well as bachelor degrees in anthropology and psychology from Heidelberg University.
