Pittsburgh, PA—GAI Consultants, Inc. (GAI) today announced that David Hechmer, PE and Sophia Lex, EIT have joined the firm’s Community Infrastructure water group to enhance its water/wastewater service offerings in the Pennsylvania region.

David Hechmer, PE joins GAI as a Senior Project Engineer in the firm’s Cranberry Township, PA office. David brings more than 15 years of experience in design, permitting, and construction for water/wastewater treatment plants, public water supply, and wastewater/stormwater collection and conveyance systems. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Clarkson University and is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania. David will focus on serving GAI’s new and existing Pennsylvania clients, including the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority (ALCOSAN) and Pittsburgh Water.

Sophia Lex, EIT joins GAI as an Environmental Engineer in the firm’s Pittsburgh, PA office. An Engineer-in-Training, Sophia will focus on environmental permitting, industrial water/wastewater treatment and public sanitation infrastructure improvement projects in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area. She holds a master’s degree in sustainable engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Sophia will support water and wastewater projects for GAI clients in the power, industry, and municipal market sectors.
