Substation Engineering Manager
Joseph Veychek specializes in electrical engineering and has extensive experience working in the energy industry. He has developed electrical training manuals used for training substation electricians—Joseph has managed and trained more than 50 employees, and has field managed substation and transmission line projects to ensure the jobs were completed safely, on-time, and on-budget. Joseph currently manages a team of substation engineers and drafters to support station physical designs, protection and controls designs, procurement, and construction support, with projects ranging between 4kV to 500kV for several different utilities. His designs include one-lines, three-lines, physical layout and elevation drawings, calculations, BOMs, and civil drawings.
Joseph performs quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) checks related to technical accuracy; procures material and specifications; mentors and manages staff at all levels; develops substation engineering scopes on site with clients; performs project management duties on hundreds of projects, including budget monitoring and schedule adherence; develops engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) documents and scopes for major utilities; reviews bid proposals for regional transmission operators (RTOs); and provides ground grid and oil containment design.
