GAI Consultant’s Community Solutions Group (CSG) was tasked by the Charleston Area Alliance to develop a conceptual master plan consisting of a series of public-realm enhancement strategies for the City Center Business Improvement District (BID).

An economic analysis was conducted to look at the opportunity zones that are located in the project area and their associated market opportunities to identify strategy investment scenarios. The plan also included an extensive review of existing streetscapes and circulation patterns to determine ways to best enhance pedestrian accessibility, safety, comfort, and to create a distinct design that would inform visitors that they had entered the BID area. The master plan culminated with a large collection of visuals illustrating how future improvements could energize the BID area, attract additional private investment, and benefit the needs of residents and businesses alike.
