Indianapolis, IN—GAI Consultants, Inc. (GAI) today announced that Michael McCool, PE has joined the firm’s transportation and infrastructure Ohio River Valley team as Chief Bridge Engineer. Michael brings more than 30 years of experience managing bridge projects for state and local clients across the nation, with a focus on Indiana.

“Mike’s technical expertise on complex bridges, proven industry leadership, and comprehensive understanding of Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) standards, policies, and practices are a tremendous asset to our team and to the clients we serve,” said Shaun Long, PE, DBIA, Assistant Vice President at GAI. “Mike consistently leads new bridge construction practices and innovative design approaches. He is a respected leader, teacher, and coach with a passion for sharing his expertise with the next generation of bridge designers.”

Michael holds a master’s degree in Civil Engineering and a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in 13 states as well as an INDOT Certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader and Load Rating Engineer. Michael currently serves as the Chair of the ASCE-INDOT Structures Committee and is a past Chair of the National Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Bridges Committee.
