Pittsburgh, PA— Environmental Business International Inc. has recognized GAI Consultants, Inc. (GAI) Chairman and CEO Gary M. DeJidas, PE, MBA, F.GBA with a 2022 Environmental Business Journal (EBJ) Lifetime Achievement Award.

“I really appreciate the EBJ lifetime achievement recognition and look forward to continuing my successful career with GAI for many more years,” said Gary DeJidas.

Gary—who celebrated 50 years of continuous service with GAI in 2022—was presented with the award on March 23, 2023, during the 21^st Annual Environmental Industry Summit in Coronado, CA.

Gary began his engineering career in 1972 at the Pittsburgh office of GAI Consultants. In 1982, the firm selected him to open its first office outside of western Pennsylvania in Orlando, FL. Starting with six employees, Gary built the GAI subsidiary into a 125-employee operation. In 2003, the GAI subsidiaries were consolidated into one company and Gary was elected President and CEO. Today as Chairman and CEO, Gary is responsible for overseeing the growth and strategic development of the 800-person, multidisciplinary firm with staff in 25 offices across 12 states.

Gary served as Chairperson/ Director of Terra Insurance Group—an insurance provider to the Architecture and Engineering industry—and as a Member of the City of Orlando Municipal Planning Board and the SunTrust Bank (Truist) Advisory Board. Gary also served as a Trustee to his alma mater, Point Park University, and is currently a Fellow of the Geoprofessional Business Association.
