As a priority for the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization, the objective of this project was to address traffic conflicts and prevent future congestion due to continued growth in the area. Extensive wetland permitting was required and, due to logistical constraints associated with working over railroad right-of-way, a weathering steel superstructure was the solution. GAI’s roadway, structure, and drainage design work contributed to the project’s success and the receipt of the 2015 Best in Construction Design Build award from the Florida Transportation Builders’ Association.
