Downtown Ocoee Master Stormwater Pond

Downtown Ocoee Master Stormwater Pond Overview

Ocoee, FL

Resulting from the City of Ocoee, Florida’s, award-winning Downtown Master Plan—prepared by GAI’s Community Solutions Group—the City contracted GAI to provide professional services for the implementation of a master stormwater system and associated stormwater park, which were identified as critical projects for future development and economic growth downtown. These services included site/civil engineering, landscape architecture, survey, electrical engineering, structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, irrigation design, permitting through SJRWMD, and construction phase management. Also included in the project was the realignment of the existing ditch/pipe conveyance system to tie into the new pond and a newly constructed parking area—requiring the installation of over 900 LF of reinforced concrete pipe (in diameters ranging from 18” to 60”) and over 700 LF of 6” and 8” water main pipe.

The master stormwater pond and park will provide treatment and attenuation for the future redevelopment of much of the downtown district. It will also serve as a destination public park facility featuring scenic walkways, overlook piers, hardscape details, and open space areas with low-impact design (LID) landscaping elements such as planters and native trees.
