GAI is providing construction engineering and inspection services for this $11 million FDOT District Two improvement project at the interchange of I 95 and Airport Road, and on Airport Center Drive to west of Duval Road in Jacksonville, Florida. As the project area is located along the main thoroughfare leading to Jacksonville International Airport and the River City Mall, it required strict adherence to lane closure timeframes as well as ensuring that traffic detection and signals were operational at all times. The project scope included widening the ramps and roadway of the I-95 interchange, roadway reconstruction at Duval Road and Airport Road, roadway resurfacing, drainage installation and improvements, sidewalk construction and repairs, ADA upgrades, and overhead sign installations. GAI’s CEI services included overseeing removal of 1,900 linear feet of asbestos cement waterline, and installation of 230 linear feet of 8-inch new water main and 216 linear feet of 6-inch sewer main encased in a carrier pipe; pier protection; new roundabout on Duval Road; two new drainage ponds; limerock base; structural and friction course asphalt paving; conventional street lighting; new signalization; new sidewalk; curb and gutter; as well as extensive utility coordination with JEA.
