Pearce Mill Road Waterline Replacement Overview
Allegheny County, PA
GAI provided survey, environmental studies, water system design, permitting, construction management, and on-site inspection services for the Pearce Mill Road Waterline Replacement project for the Allegheny County Public Works Department (ACDPW), in collaboration with Allegheny County Parks Foundation. The project involved replacement of approximately 12,000 linear feet of existing 6-inch and 8-inch waterlines located along Pearce Mill Road in North Park; and included installation of new 8-inch ductile iron waterline, valves, service line connections, water fountains, and hydrants along the waterline replacement route.
The project was phased to maintain water service to the individual buildings and shelters during construction, as well as the existing roadway traffic. GAI provided survey and conceptual planning, environmental permitting, coordination with PennDOT (as a portion of the project area lies within state roadway), as well as construction phase services. The design was completed in consideration of the upcoming design of a park trail along the route, and the overall utility alignment design was prepared with the intent of minimizing the extent and duration of earth disturbance, to maximize the protection of existing park features and vegetation, by impacting the smallest footprint possible.
