RTE Species and Cultural Resources Surveys for 500 kV Transmission Line Rebuild Overview
Virginia
The rebuilding of 25 miles of 500 kV line required a CPCN from the State Corporation Commission. Extensive reviews for rare species were needed to support the environmental permitting, including investigations for bats, shrikes, plants, and a cave-dwelling isopod. Management plans were developed to provide protection for several species and sensitive karst environments. GAI also conducted extensive archaeological and architectural resource surveys.
