Stream Restoration – State Route Interchange Improvements

Stream Restoration – State Route Interchange Improvements Overview

Venango County, PA

GAI provided improvements to the intersection of State Route (SR) 257 and SR 62 in Cranberry Township and Oil City, Pennsylvania. Improvements included a new signalized intersection, additional turning lanes, and the construction and reconstruction of sidewalks, shoulders, and roadway. In addition, the team replaced a single-span reinforced slab bridge over Sage Run stream, resulting in stream realignment and restoration.

GAI also designed and constructed 1,230 linear feet of Sage Run, using natural channel design techniques such as cross vanes, double-drop cross vanes, j-hook vanes, and step pools. These stream mitigation techniques increased oxygen levels and created instream habitats for fisheries resources and macroinvertebrates.
