St. Cloud to eye future at public meeting Wednesday

The future of St. Cloud may be, well, the future, but planning for the next 25 years in the city is a thing of the present. And if you live in the city and plan to stick around for a while and see the future, St. Cloud officials want to hear from you about their plans.

A kickoff meeting for the “Envision St. Cloud” initiative will be Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the St. Cloud Marina, 1104 Lakeshore Drive, in the second-floor banquet hall. Planning officials are trying to shape what St. Cloud will look like in 2042 — where new housing and commercial development will go and what new roads might connect them.

In January, the St. Cloud City Council approved an agreement to work with GAI Consultants in completing a visioning and master planning project. They will collaborate on changes to the city’s future land use, zoning and regulatory policy, and a specific economic-development strategy.
