GAI is providing Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services to the City of Jacksonville, Florida for the widening and reconstruction of the McCoys Creek Outfall Improvements with Riverwalk. The City committed $105.4 million for this stormwater improvement project, which aims to alleviate chronic flooding in the area and will also increase recreational opportunities, add more green space and public access to the creek, and improve pedestrian connectivity to the Riverwalk and surrounding neighborhoods via the Emerald Trail.

To date, as part of the project, the Northbank Riverwalk Bridge over McCoys Creek was demolished and replaced with a new three-span pedestrian bridge. The outfall channel was widened and deepened to accommodate floodwaters, and the City plans to transform the outfall area into a new riverfront public park featuring Emerald Trail multiuse paths, kayak launches, and green space.

The project scope includes site preparation, utility trestle inspection, soil anchor inspection, reinforced concrete inspection, existing culvert grouting, earthwork, bulkhead installation, riprap, system installation, utilities relocation and installation, roadway construction, MOT, structures demolition, removal/disposal of contaminated soils and/or groundwater, erosion and sedimentation control, landscape plantings, site restoration, and other related work. GAI’s services also include contract administration, public involvement, QA/QC, and materials sampling and testing in compliance with FDOT and the City’s standards.
