Consultants unveil draft ideas for Leesburg master plan

Daily Commercial – The downtown master plan is another step closer to completion.

GAI Consultants on Thursday evening hosted a meeting outlining some of their preliminary ideas to revamp downtown. Blake Drury, the director of planning and urban design, spoke to about two dozen people on the third floor of the Plaza Theater.

Drury presented concepts that included beautifying the city’s existing bike trails, beefing up parking signage, improving downtown entryways, adding another park downtown, permanently closing some cross-streets to make walking areas — one of which would be connected to a raised walking path across Main Street — and making a “mullet” out of Market Street — business in the front, party in the back.
