GAI Consultants’ Project Team Recognized for Clermont Downtown and Waterfront Master Plan

Orlando, FL—On October 13, the City of Clermont and GAI Consultants, Inc. (GAI) were recognized by the Florida Redevelopment Association (FRA) for the Clermont Downtown and Waterfront Master Plan. The project was honored in the Planning Studies category at an awards banquet during the FRA 2016 Annual Conference.

Highlights/Key Facts

About the Project

  • GAI’s Community Solutions Group and the City of Clermont worked to develop a new vision for the City’s downtown and waterfront areas.
  • The master plan has resulted in Community Redevelopment Area modifications, infrastructure investments, and first-phase projects which will go to construction in early 2017.
  • First-phase projects include new downtown gateways and a new stormwater park to satisfy stormwater management requirements for most of downtown while creating an amenity for several large strategic redevelopment sites.
  • The redeveloped waterfront will be anchored by a boathouse and “Victory Pointe Park” (staging location for competition races), a new downtown promenade with waterfront retail and dining, and a neighborhood waterfront.
  • New concepts for recreational trail spurs will connect the waterfront trail to downtown via cycle tracks, shared space, and other “complete street” techniques.
  • Clermont’s proposed Downtown and Waterfront Master Plan has been overwhelmingly embraced by City residents and business owners alike.
