Dominion Cove Point: Oyster Mitigation Program

Dominion Cove Point: Oyster Mitigation Program Overview

Calvert County, MD

As part of its permitting agreement with the state of Maryland, Dominion Energy is completing an oyster mitigation effort to restore an essential oyster reef in the Patuxent River on the Chesapeake Bay. In 2014 Dominion constructed a temporary, barge-offloading pier in the area in Solomons, MD to receive large equipment and materials delivered by barges for their $3.8 billion export expansion project. As part of the permitting process, Dominion agreed to restore a minimum of four acres of oyster bed, twice the anticipated amount of impacts.

GAI is implementing the mitigation for Dominion, including coordination with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to ensure the project stays on track and the mitigation is completed in accordance with all requirements.
