GAI conducted an architectural and historical resources survey as part of the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation’s ongoing revitalization and rehabilitation efforts in Allegheny County. GAI surveyed and documented 177 resources within the proposed District for its evaluation and potential listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). GAI authored a historic context and completed Pennsylvania Historic Resource Survey forms for all surveyed resources as part of the District’s nomination process, finishing Phase I of the project in March 2016. Phase II of the project is moving forward with a site visit from the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office, culminating later this year with GAI preparing a formal nomination of the Wilkinsburg Historic District for listing in the NRHP.
