WVDOH Chapel Road Bridge Overview

GAI designed and is providing construction services to the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) for the design-build rehabilitation of Chapel Road Bridge. This steel rigid frame structure carries Chapel Road (CR 6) over Interstate 470 in Ohio County, West Virginia. Utilizing materials from the original structure that was built in 1972, GAI’s design incorporates new approach ramps, bridge deck, protective walls along the adjacent sidewalks, and protective fencing across the bridge. Construction began in summer 2019 and consists of all associated roadway and bridge work; reinforcement of the foundation, substructure, and superstructure; maintenance of traffic; utility coordination; drainage; erosion and sedimentation monitoring; QA/QC; and inspections.
