Since its downtown master plan was last updated in 2003, proposals that would have created a central place to eat, shop and stroll have flopped while apartments have sprung up throughout
But the city of 17,000-plus residents is on the cusp of major change. As construction begins on Maitland City Centre downtown, officials say the time is right to freshen up the community’s image, branding its downtown while building a detailed template for the city’s future.
