St. Cloud residents help steer city’s future at meeting

News Gazette – For St. Cloud residents who plan to stay a while, Wednesday was the first day of the rest of their lives.

A crowd big enough to fill the second-floor Lakefront Marina Banquet Hall turned out to give their thoughts on how they’d like to see the city grow and expand in a smart way. Representatives GAI Consultants, who the city of St. Cloud has contracted with to make changes to its comprehensive plan — a blueprint for the future growth of a city that can expand in nearly every compass direction — ran the meeting, explaining how they’ll help implement the citizen’s vision and not force through their own designs. “Our job is to listen carefully to the input that we get,” GAI representative Pete Sechler said. “We enjoy communities like St. Cloud. We want to see it through many different lenses, and through (residents’) eyes, but before we get ideas, we want to make sure we’ve heard the questions right.”
