Acid Mine Drainage Treatment Management

Acid Mine Drainage Treatment Management Overview

Pennsylvania

GAI was responsible for managing a client’s Abandoned Mine Drainage treatment plant and streambed sealing project in Pennsylvania. This state grant-funded project included design and construction of an active treatment system for mine discharge, along with the sealing of portions of the streambeds to reduce flow into the mine. GAI was contracted to monitor the project’s progress and budget, and to prepare status reports and invoices for submission to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) on the client’s behalf. GAI’s efforts included determining the contractor and subcontractor’s consistency with the funding requirements, as well as maintaining pertinent project records. GAI staff performed on-site construction observation, and continues to support the client through the startup of the treatment plant. GAI has supported this project’s success from the start of state funding through its completion.
