Generating Station Coal Asset Decommissioning and CT Separation Overview
Maryland
A confidential generating station sought to retire coal-fired steam electric generating units, while maintaining operations of combustion turbines. With GAI’s diverse range of services, we were able to support our client with a multitude of the project’s aspects. Our conceptual engineering studies laid out multiple options and associated probable costs, constructability and opinion of risks for use in early planning and decision making.
GAI performed detailed engineering for the combustion turbines raw water supply system, wastewater storage, sewage holding tank design, along with permitting, and contractor bid support. Site reconnaissance and underground utility investigations were performed to determine existing facilities and equipment that could be utilized for the project to minimize capital expenditures. Our process engineers supported system design modifications for management of wastewaters. With our team of electrical, mechanical, structural, process and civil engineers, GAI prepared engineering drawings and construction bid packages. Our expertise supported review of contractor bids and requests for information.
