I-95 Widening and I-4/US 92 Systems Interchange Reconstruction Design-Build

I-95 Widening and I-4/US 92 Systems Interchange Reconstruction Design-Build Overview

Volusia County, FL

GAI is leading the design team for a six-lane highway widening and total interchange reconstruction project to improve safety and increase capacity. The project covers more than 12 miles of roadway and 20 bridge replacements. GAI’s value-added design concepts eliminated 97 percent of the utility conflicts and 17 acres of right-of-way requirements. Polymer binder and bonded friction course was used to reduce future maintenance costs for the client.

Project Update (09/2017)

Currently completed components of the project include the Spruce Creek bridges and the I-95 third lane south of Spruce Creek (all now open to traffic in both directions), as well as the I-4 eastbound ramp and bridge to I-95 northbound, which will see a second lane added by the end of 2017.

The I-4/I-95 interchange is currently under construction, as are the I-95 bridges over US 92—a project that requires daily construction activity coordination with Daytona Beach International Airport.

The total project is scheduled for completion in 2018.
