Carrie Furnace Brownfield Redevelopment Project

Carrie Furnace Brownfield Redevelopment Project Overview

Allegheny County, PA

GAI was selected by the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County (RAAC) to provide program management services for the Carrie Furnace Redevelopment Project. This Brownfield project consisted of multiple phases to redevelop the former Carrie Furnace steel mill site and adjacent land for the creation of a mixed-use riverfront facility. The GAI team served as an extension of RAAC’s staff, providing consulting engineering services and tracking the progress of the project throughout the planning, design, bidding, construction, and closeout phases. These tasks included managing consultant agreements; creating a master schedule of development; drafting agency correspondence; reviewing consultant proposals and costs; coordinating permit applications; organizing pre-bid and pre-construction meetings; performing construction management and inspection; reviewing contractor schedules, invoices, and change orders for accuracy and logic; and coordinating project closeout documentation.
