Casselberry Parks and Recreation Master Plan Overview
Seminole County, FL
Beginning in fall 2016, GAI, as a subconsultant, provided a parks and recreation master plan for the City of Casselberry, Florida. Casselberry’s City Council accepted the plan was summer 2017.
GAI led the inventory, mapping, and level of service (LOS) efforts for the master plan using Esri’s Collector application on the team’s mobile phones, which allowed staff to log the condition and location of park equipment—updating the park inventory database in real time and providing accurate, timely data that simplified the LOS process.
Background and support information included a review of all existing plans including the Florida Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP), demographics, population, service-area projections, trends, and benchmarking against similar communities. Public input was received through a series of focus groups, open public meetings, a steering committee, meetings with staff and elected officials, and an online survey. The final master plan will include a needs assessment, findings, vision, and an implantation strategy that includes goals, capital improvement estimates, funding recommendations, phasing, and grant application strategy.
