Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission Open End Agreement Overview
Pennsylvania
Under an Open End Agreement, GAI is providing engineering design services for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC). Projects performed under this agreement include the following:
- A 2-mile section of the Mon-Fayette Expressway between Mile Post (MP) M-34.9 and M-36.9 in Washington County. The project included concrete repairs to mainline SR 43 and the 8 interchange ramps, mainline bituminous resurfacing, replacement of roadway drainage facilities, replacement of guide rail, placement of erosion and sediment pollution controls, maintenance and protection of traffic during construction, pavement markings, and structural repairs for two structures.
- Donegal Slope Remediation from MP 90.1 to MP 90.4 in Westmoreland County. Construction plans were needed to improve a 70-foot-steep eroded slope requiring 18,000 cubic yards of excavation. The project scope also included National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting, placement of erosion and sediment pollution controls, and maintenance and protection of traffic during construction.
- Design improvements for a 7-mile section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike from MP 2.22 to MP 9.29 in Lawrence and Beaver Counties. The project involved bituminous resurfacing, reprofiling, shoulder repairs, inlet replacements, pipe extensions, slope stabilization, guide rail/barrier replacement, placement of erosion and sediment pollution controls, and structural repairs for two structures.
