Point Park University Wood Street Corridor Enhancements

Point Park University Wood Street Corridor Enhancements Overview

Pittsburgh, PA

GAI provided preliminary engineering and final design for traffic and streetscape improvements to enhance a section of Wood Street located in the heart of Point Park University’s Downtown Pittsburgh campus. The project supports the University’s plan to create an academic village on the campus.

The improvements to Wood Street, from Fort Pitt Boulevard to Third Avenue, included street milling and resurfacing, construction of accessible sidewalks and curbs, and installation of distinctive, pedestrian-scaled street lighting. A new and efficient traffic signal system was designed for the intersection of Boulevard of the Allies and Third Avenue. Aesthetic upgrades include new identification and directional signage for Point Park Campus facilities and other Downtown Pittsburgh destinations, as well as new street trees and tree grates along a three block area.
