As project engineer for the Indiana Department of Transportation-funded rehabilitation and reconstruction of West 2^nd Street, GAI renovated more than 2,700 feet of roadway between Vehslage Drive and Lasher Drive. After evaluating geotechnical conditions, GAI saved between $800,000 and $1,000,000 in Phase I costs using Best Management Practices. Utilizing bioretention subsurface exfiltration galleries to treat and manage water quality and quantity for the project and all contributing offsite watersheds, GAI adjusted the vertical layout to more closely match existing conditions, eliminate box culverts, and significantly minimize the required right-of-way.
