Geotechnical and Geological Engineering Overview
Since 1958, GAI has been helping clients manage the ground materials and geologic processes that affect their facilities and project successes. Our geotechnical engineers and geologists are highly experienced in the principles of engineering geology, soil and rock mechanics, foundation engineering, subsidence, and mine studies. Our engineers analyze the stability of earth slopes and retaining wall systems to create design solutions for buildings, highways, and deep excavation projects. We evaluate site conditions to determine the proper site seismic design criteria, and our foundation engineers investigate soil conditions at development sites.
GAI’s geotechnical expertise in site design includes areas subject to sinkhole and subsidence trough development, including sites underlain by karst and underground coal and limestone mines. We also have site design experience in areas of potential seismic activity and with materials with potential for liquefaction. Our geotechnical engineers solve subsidence issues for clients in the industry, energy, transportation, education, healthcare, and real estate markets.
